How do high density gradients affect incompressible shear flows?

Airborne emission like greenhouse gases, 50% from industry and energy production (Geic), are a 21st century’s ecological challenge.
Therefore, a fundamental approach of chimney exhausts seems to be a good way to understand environemental issues.
These atmospheric releases are usually shear flows (jet or mixing layer). Many studies on them can be found but few take into account strong inhomogeneities due to high density gradients with incompressible flows.

How does high density ratio affect the inertial dynamics of incompressible shear flows?
